My name is
Henry Holien!

I’m a graphic designer, photographer (and occasionally a farmer), originally from Minnesota.

More About Me

  • A person taking a photo of the New York City skyline from Central Park, standing on a stone wall, surrounded by trees and greenery with skyscrapers in the background.

    City Life

Living in a city has always excited me. I grew up loving to go explore Minneapolis and so for college I decided to move east and live in my first “real” big city - Philadelphia. I now love to go visit New York on the weekends to explore and take pictures.

  • Country Life

    Country Life

I really wanted to see what farm life was all about and see if I had what it takes to work on a farm so I moved down to Australia — and I loved it. Waking up each morning in nature and going to bed at night knowing you had done a hard day’s work was magical.

    A Little of Both

I have found that I have an equal appreciation for both the big city and the country. Being in either brings me great joy and excitement. One day I hope to have a Long-Haired Dachshund in the city and a German Short-Haired Pointer in the country.

My Interests

  • A collection of book covers arranged on a flat surface, featuring titles such as "Demon Copperhead" by Barbara Kingsolver, "The Hunter" by Tana French, and "In Cold Blood" by Truman Capote. The covers have various designs and color schemes.

    Reading

I love to read! Some of my favorite books that I read this year were “The Poisonwood Bible,” “Demon Copperhead,” “North Woods,” — and “The Thursday Murder Club” was an especially fun one.

    Travel

Travel is the best form of education. I travel every chance I get and love to see how other people live. I’ve been to London, Spain, Portugal, Australia and New Zealand.

Music

Although I never learned to play an instrument, listening to music has always been a large part of my life and creative process. I’ll listen to certain genres of music to match how I want my design to feel, and a lot of the personal projects I do revolve around a certain song or album.

My favorite band is Big Thief! Check out my Spotify Wrapped from last year.

Skills

I am skilled in and have had lots of experience in the Adobe Creative Suite, Figma, the Google Suite and in Canva. I’ve also worked with Squarespace and Wix for more template- based website design. And I’ve worked with Capture One for professional photo editing and color grading.

My Experience

  • Modern industrial-style office building interior with exposed metal beams, glass walls, multiple floors, and wooden staircases. People are engaged in various activities, such as working and conversing.

    Drexel University

In 2023 I graduated Magna Cum Laude from the Westphal College of Media Arts and Design at Drexel University with a B.S. in Graphic Design. With its 10 week quarter system, the fast-paced and rigorous schedule really prepared me for the real world and helped me create a process that was efficient and effective.

  • Lyquix

    Lyquix

In 2022 I joined a web-design firm in Philadelphia called Lyquix. I worked there part-time throughout my junior and senior year and then upon graduating went full-time. Here I got great experience in real world website and graphic design, client communication, project management, and working on a team.

    Freelance

When I’m not in school or at work I am still always working on other design projects. Be it paid freelance work, projects for friends, or just personal projects that I find fun, I always have some sort of design project in the works and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
